Top cop holds meeting on Modi’s visit to city
City police commissioner C.V. Anand held a coordination meeting with senior officials of several departments to finalise arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city on July 2 and 3 for the BJP’S national executive committee session.
Officials of the police, GHMC, TSSPDCL, R&B, fire services, Army and health department, besides political parties, attended the meeting. Modi is expected to stay at the HICC Novotel and take part in the meeting, scheduled to be held at Parade Ground.security arrangements, detailing plans from the moment of the PM’S arrival, stay, attendance at the meeting and departure, among contingency plans in case of emergencies, were discussed.
Anand appealed to political party representatives to set up coordination committees to liaison with officials of the Special Protection Group, among other departments. He also asked them not to make changes to the schedule.
Traffic police pointed out a need for cantonment officials to allot adequate parking space for vehicles that will arrive from various districts of the state. Power department officials asked the BJP members to make adequate power backup arrangements for public meetings.
The health department was asked to position specialist medical teams, ambulances and equipment at the venue.
Besides deploying officers and quick response teams (QRTS), law and order officials were instructed to make security plans in strict adherence to the SPG’S Blue Book. Deployment of snipers, anti-sabotage measures, rooftop watches, mufti parties, route maps, trial runs and multi-layer security arrangements are being made within city limits.
Officials said that only those producing valid passes will be allowed to attend the meetings and that all attendees would be frisked. Also, measures have been taken to deal with any spontaneous protests, they said.
All pass holders will also need to produce negative RT-PCR Covid-19 test results to attend the programme.
