Tilak, Shubham tops

Abdul, Ravi, Aniketh, Chand take four wickets each in T20 tourney

Thakur Tilak Varma scored a century while Shubham Sharma took five wickets to lead a list of performers in the Nawab MAK Pataudi T20 Tiger Cup cricket tournament knockout matches played on Thursday.

Abdul Ela Quraishi, M. Ravi Kiran, G. Aniketh Reddy and N Chand were the next best on show, taking four wickets each.

Tilak thumped a 44-ball 105 which included nine boundaries and eight sixes to guide Gemini Friends to 171 for 8. In reply, EMCC folded for just 72 in 14 overs, thanks mainly to fine bowling by Abdul Ela Quraishi, who 4/16. P. Vishnu supported him with 3/9.

At the ECIL ground, Shubham Sharma scalped 5 for 15 to bundle South Central Railway Sports Associatio­n for a paltry 73. Rohit XI romped home in 13.3 overs with six wickets in hand.

M. Ravi Kiran’s 4 for 19 restricted Union Bank of India to 122 for 9 but State Bank of India could only reply with 112 for 7 despite a fine 47 by T. Suman.

Aniketh’s 4 for 16 bowled out Sporting XI for 100 as they tried to chase Evergreen’s 159 for 7.

N. Chand took 4 for 32 as Khalsa stopped India Cements at 168 for 7. However, Khalsa lost the game thanks to a fine fielding effort by India Cements player M. Samhith Reddy, who effected two crucial runouts with direct hits.
