On Monday morning, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor surprised fans by announcing that they would soon begin a new segment of their journey together. They posted a photo showing Alia undergoing sonography while Ranbir looks on. Alia captioned the photo, “Our baby... coming soon.”
A video of Ranbir Kapoor cuddling a baby on the set of a film went viral on the internet at the end of May. Fans tagged Alia Bhatt, in the post. A day later, the actress posted on her Instagram stories that the video was a vibe. And now, a month later, she has announced that she and Ranbir are expecting their first child.

the shooting. Filmmaker Farah Khan has she said she was aware of Alia’s pregnancy.
Even as many fans wondered whether the news was true, congratulations began to pour in for the couple. Alia’s father, Mahesh Bhatt, has confirmed the news and expressed his joy at the prospect of soon becoming a grandfather. Alia’s mother, actor Soni Razdan said, “We are overjoyed and overwhelmed. Words really don’t do justice to this moment. I am just so so happy for Ranbir and Alia and for all of us. There is nothing greater or more profound in this world than bringing another life into it.”
There is no official word on when the baby is expected. “The couple married in a quick ceremony on April 14 after postponing their wedding from the previous September for unspecified reasons. They decided to release their personal ‘brahmastra’ of Alia being pregnant only after the trailers of Brahmastra starring Ranbir and Alia and Shamshera starring Ranbir — were released,” says a source.
Alia, who is also awaiting the release of Darlings produced under her home banner Eternal Sunshine Productions, is expected to make an announcement in that regard too.
The actress has already had two releases this year — lead role in Gangubai Kathiawadi and a cameo in RRR. She does not have any other shoots pending, apart from Heart of Stone. Darlings has already been shot and so it is safe to say that Alia will be taking a maternity break in the days to come.
