‘NO TENSION BETWEEN KJO AND KARTIK AARYAN’
Director Raj Mehta says ‘a film’ is above everything else
Director Raj Mehta has proved with his second successful film, Jug Jugg Jeeyo, that he is here to stay. He enters into a frank discussion with us about certain dynamics in the industry and also his work. Asked whether he would do a film with Kartik Aaryan, Raj instantly said, “Yes why not? “If I have a good script I would like to take it to him.”
Lauding the actor, the director continued, “His films Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and others did well at the B.O and now Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has done well too. I am his fan.”
He also had a word of praise for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 director Anees Bazmee, saying he should get the credit for an entertaining film. “At this time audiences want to watch such entertaining films and that is the reason the film has been successful” he said. Asked specifically if he would cast Kartik in a film he was doing for Dharma Productions, Raj said, “I will surely call Kartik if I have a story for him. If I tell Karan (Johar) ‘I want Kartik in this film,’ he will not question me at all. There is no tension [tanav] between them. There is no stress about Kartik working in Dharma. Also we all believe the film is more important than anything.”
Raj was reluctant to talk about his next film, Selfie, an Akshay Kumar starrer, beyond saying, “It’s about a common man wishing to take a selfie with a super star. I have no idea whether it will release in theatres or OTT. We shot in the scorching heat of Bhopal but working with Akshay Sir is fun, it was the experience of lifetime.”
