Chance for BJP leaders to share dais

- BALU PULIPAKA | DC HYDERABAD, JUNE 30

The BJP public meeting at Parade Grounds to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July, being viewed by the party as the start of the BJP’S poll campaign in Telangana state for the 2024 Assembly polls, will not see all state BJP’S senior leaders sharing the dais with the Prime Minister, at least not on the one which Modi will deliver his speech from.

“As of now, we know for certain that four others will share the primary dais with the Prime Minister. There could be two or three more who will join Modi,” a party leader said.

As on Tuesday, Modi will be joined by BJP president J.P. Nadda, home minister Amit Shah, state BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and Union minister from Telangana, G. Kishan Reddy, the party leader said, adding that security and safety requirements for the Prime Minister require such an arrangement.

Many of the other senior leaders, including Chief Ministers from the Bjpruled states, deputy Chief Ministers, some Union ministers, along with party leaders from Telangana state, will be on a separate dais, next to the one where Modi will be seated, the party leader said. Meanwhile, BJP leaders said that so far, some 3,000 buses have been hired by party leaders from different districts for coming to the public meeting.

In addition, tens of thousands of people are expected to arrive in the city for the public meeting in other modes of transport. While the party has set itself a target of mobilising 10 lakh people for the meeting, realistic expectations among party leaders

are that anywhere up to five lakh could turn up.

The minimum target is to exceed the number who came to hear Amit Shah at the Tukkuguda public meeting on May 14 to mark the conclusion of Bandi Sanjay’s second leg of the Praja Sangrama Yatra.

“We had more than two lakh attend that meeting. We want much more than that for Modi’s meeting,” a party leader said.
