BJP poll in-charge Patil to focus on micro management

- DC CORRESPONDENT

Abhay Kumar Patil with hands-on experience of overseeing poll management in different regions of the state during the Legislative Assembly elections has been appointed as BJP’S Telangana State election Prabhari for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He is likely to take charge on Friday. Patil is the second person from Maharashtra after Prakash Javdekar to oversee election management and voter outreach programmes in Telangana. Javdekar was actively involved in the last Assembly elections.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Patil said that he had stayed in the state for over 100 days during the Assembly elections and had also acted as the in-charge for Assembly segments in Nizamabad, Kamareddy and Zaheerabad districts.

Patil will coordinate with all party poll incharges in the 17 Lok

Sabha seats and report directly to the national president J.P. Nadda and Union home minister Amit Shah.

Incidentally, Patil is a four-time MLA from Belgaum South in Karnataka. After being elected for the first as Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti candidate in 2008, he switched over to the BJP. Telangana is home to around seven lakh native speakers of Kannada and 10 lakh Marathi speaking people. Most of them live in Hyderabad and the bordering districts of Zaheerabad, Nizamabad and Adilabad districts.

Patil said that the BJP’S biggest advantages in Telangana are lakhs of dedicated grass-root workers and sympathisers, who can hold sway among the voters.

Besides macro management of effectively planning public meetings and road shows of national leaders, micro management involving party workers is crucial to clinch wins, he said.
