Like A Dream

Fancy spending a dreamy evening in Delhi, with inspired cocktails and global gourmet offerings in tow? Ditas, the latest entrant in Mehrauli’s Ambavatta One complex, is the ideal place.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS WHAT WE LOVED

Fairy lights and flowering vines swaddling the al fresco area, upholstery in soothing tones of royal blue and rose gold, Moroccan tiles on the floor, an elegant bar shimmering in the warm lamp light, and a mirrored ceiling that reflects your entire vista—Ditas makes a great first impression. The menu is an eclectic mix of global cuisines but what grabbed our attention was the wide range of cocktails on offer. The main wall displays a cheeky neon sign that says ‘I like where this is going’, perhaps to prepare you for the good time that lies ahead.

SIGNATURE DISHES DI RECOMMENDS

If you are looking for a crisp and fresh start, Gomae Spinach Salad with wantons and a creamy sesame dressing makes for a great appetiser. You will love the Roasted Sumac Baby Carrots that come dressed in a tangy orange aioli, topped with pomegranate seeds and sun-dried tomatoes, for it offers a burst of flavours. Fried to a perfect golden, Prawn Sesame Toast is an interesting take on its overused counterpart, prawn tempuras. Served with cucumber chili sesame dip, the bite-size toasts are crumbly-crunchy on the outside and spongy on the inside. For mains, try the Fettuccini Miso Carbonara with bacon crisps, the Japanese Miso Vegetable Bowl, and the Hickory Smoked Mushroom Stroganoff served with herbed rice, arugula salad, and sour cream. But the Chipotle Honey Chicken is the one you are most likely to come back for—grilled in a spicy-sweet sauce, the tender chicken is well complemented by Caribbean quinoa and the avocado mango salsa that lends it a wonderful tang.

FINAL TAKE WHY WE WOULD RETURN

While the amazing gourmet food is enough reason to choose Ditas for date nights and family dinners, its dreamy decor and innovative drinks are sure to score brownie points. If you can handle the sting of whiskey, there is nothing better than Ditas’s Old Fashioned with bourbon, white chocolate, activated charcoal, and angostura bitters. Gringo In Tokyo brings gin and jalapenos together with matcha tea, egg white, and yuzu-honey mix. Even something like Tottem Pole—white and dark rum along with mango, mint, and coconut milk— will have you going back for more.
