Of monsoon and music

It was an extraordinary evening devoted to the southwest monsoon. DownTo Earth brought together people from different fields, including scientists and civil society groups, to understand the complex phenomenon that brings lifegiving rains to the Indian Subcontinent. Magazine editor and host of the evening Sunita Narain noted that the monsoon is India's real finance minister . But the evening's stars were Manganiar musicians from the Thar who serenaded the audience with traditional rain songs.
