How energy efficient is the world?

Down to Earth analysed a report by non-profit American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy that ranks energy policies and performances of 23 top energy-consuming countries. The countries were ranked on the basis of performance in four sectors: industry, transport, national effort and buildings. While Germany, Japan, Italy and France topped the list, the performance of other countries were dismal. India was at number 14.
