India, EU sign agreement on water management

the European Union (EU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on water management. The MoU provides for technical exchange between the two sides on water issues, including integrated water resource management within river basins. It envisions a more sustainable management of water resources in India with an objective to tackle the challenges posed by a growing population, competing water demands and a changing climate. EU states are known for water management. This is primarily because they have adopted water pricing policies to provide adequate incentives for users to use water resources efficiently. A joint working group shall be formed to monitor implementation of the MoU.
