Segregate waste at household level into wet (bio-degradable) and dry (recyclable) by adopting two bin system with colour coding. Convert domestic waste into useful manure by adopting Vermicompo­sting methods in houses.

Inform the Municipal / Pollution Control Board authoritie­s, if Hospitals / Nursing homes are mixing bio-medical waste with municipal solid waste or dumping in open areas.

Do not dump the waste on the roads/open areas

No food items to be packed in coloured plastic bags. The thickness of plastic carry bags shall not be less than 50 microns. Carry a cloth/ paper/ jute bag instead of asking for a plastic carry bag.

Encourage recycling of waste paper and discourage the use of plastic carry bags. Residents around water bodies and drinking water sources should not divert their sewage into the water sources.

The townships and institutio­ns to provide decentrali­zed treatment system and recycle treated sewage for flushing toilets and gardening purposes.

Industries, residentia­l complexes, commercial complexes and individual houses to construct rainwater harvesting structures in their premises to recharge ground water.

Keep automobile engines well tuned. All vehicles owners to obtain Pollution Under Control (PUC) Certificat­e from authorised centers only.

Purchase fuel from authorized dealers only. Do not use adulterate­d fuel.

Raise greenbelts and household gardens to increase the green cover.
