Rights activist shares his bitter experience
CHENNAI: One of the first grievance video call to the city police chief on Friday was from a rights activist, Kasimayan, who shared details of his complaint with
DT Next. He complained that he lodged a petition against a theatre in Jafferkhanpet about the screening of movies at unauthorised timings and also about the theatre collecting excess parking charges. He had sent an online complaint to the CM cell in December 2019 and got a reply last month saying his complaint was closed because MGR Nagar police had registered an FIR (53/2020) based on his petition. But when he checked the FIR, he found that it was about someone, in intoxicated stage, creating a ruckus in front of a wine shop and the said FIR had nothing to do with his complaint. Kasimayan, after his interaction with the officer, said he received an encouraging reply from the Commissioner who promised to look both sides.
