Tiruchy city to have 65 spl teams for virus drive: Commissioner of Police
In order to closely monitor and initial preventive steps against COVID-19, as many as 65 teams each with 10 members including the civic body workers, revenue officials and health would be established in Tiruchy City, said the City Commissioner of Police J Loganathan here on Saturday. Speaking to the media, the Commissioner said, the police personnel would extend their helping hand to these 65 teams which would initiate steps on how to contain the COVID-19 pandemic and create awareness among the public. “We have initiated a training process for all these teams. The special training includes how to handle the people infected with the virus and advise them not to panic and a hand book on the guidelines is distributed among the police stations and they are asked strictly to follow them”, the Commissioner said. Stating that five police personnel are under treatment for COVID-19 in the city, the Commissioner said, each police station would be disinfected periodically and police personnel are asked to wear masks, gloves and maintain social distance. “This apart, we ensure one third of staff on break duty so that they could have a breather during the tight schedules”, Loganathan said. Meanwhile, he ensured the people-police cordial relationship and urged the each police station incharge to maintain decorum and treat the people who visit the police station in an honourable manner. “We have shortlisted 25 police personnel seen with aggressive nature and they would be given training on how to behave with the common men.”
