CM unveils policies on AI, blockchain, cyber security
CHENNAI: To attract more investments in the information technology sector, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Saturday launched the State government’s three new policies relating to cybersecurity, blockchain technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Palaniswami launched the policies while participating in the “Connect 2020” conference organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) through a video conference.
To use blockchain technology in the state government Tamil Nadu Blockchain Policy 2020 has been launched.
Similarly, Safe and Ethical Artificial Intelligence Policy 2020 is also launched to be used in the online services offered to the public, a statement from secretariat read.
To tackle the cyber threat the government had also introduced the Tamil Nadu Cyber Security Policy 2020.
With these three policies the IT majors and government departments in the state will be able to focus better on cyber security and IT business ventures, sources said. Last month to boost the electronic and hardware business, the state unveiled electronic policy.
The state government also awarded a certificate of appreciation for Inspector general of registrations Jothi Nirmala for effectively using IT enabled tools in the state registration department. The state also awarded private establishments for their innovative IT business practices.
In another function held at the secretariat, Chief Minister EPS through video conferencing inaugurated 25 power substations established in Chennai, Salem, Coimbatore,
Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Krishnagiri and Tiruchy at a total cost of Rs 353 crores.
Palaniswami also laid foundation stones for construction of check dams across three waterways at a cost of Rs 24 crores.
Of this Rs 17.40 crore will be earmarked to improve groundwater percolation through check dams across the Vaigai river, a press release said. Revenue minister RB Udhayakumar, Chief Secretary K Shanmugham and public works department secretary K Manivasan also attended the event.
