Want to be known more as an artiste than heroine: Riythvika

- KAUSHIK RAJARAMAN

Actress Riythvika used this lockdown productively to prep up for her upcoming project. “I had to lose weight for my next with Karunas and I made a good use of the lockdown to exercise regularly. If not for lockdown, I would have missed my gym classes and I am known for it. Lockdown was announced just when I started working out regularly. My trainer and my friends even made fun of it,” she begins. Riythvika says that she had to go the extra mile to lose weight as she found the role substantial.

“The film is directed by PS Ramnath, who earlier made Ambasamudram Ambani and Jiiva’s Thirunaal. It will be a character-driven story that revolves around my role. I agreed to do the film immediately after I heard the narration because of the story graph. This will be yet another film that the

Actor audience will take notice of my character like my previous ones. The shoot will begin once things resume slowly,” adds the actress.

The reason behind choosing character roles over lead roles according to Riythivika is that she believes in exploring. “When I started off in Tamil cinema, I ensured that I wanted to be known as an artiste rather than a heroine. It is not that I won’t do any lead roles in future. However, cinema is a medium that we can explore. I want to do comedies and roles with negative shades to break the stereotypes. This isn’t a medium to be stranded in one place by taking up clichéd characters,” she concludes.
