78-yr-old man chopped into pieces, buried in Ranipet; hunt on for son

-

In a gruesome incident, a man allegedly killed his father, chopped the body into pieces in Valsaravakkam and transported the body parts in a drum to Ranipet for disposal.

Police came to know of the incident only after the daughter of the deceased lodged a missing complaint at Valasaravakkam police station on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Kumaresan,

78, a retired Central government employee. He lived on the second floor of the house, while his son Gunasekharan, his wife and two kids occupied the first floor. Kumaresan’s two other daughters are married and settled. Police are trying to piece together this sordid tale to get to the roots of how it all started.

One of Kumaresan’s daughters Kanchana

Mala, who left for her house in Mandaveli last Sunday returned on Thursday to find the house locked from outside. When she asked Gunasekharan, he too began a search for his missing father. The cops suspected foul play the moment Kanchanamala lodged a complaint with

Valasaravakkam police station. Gunasekharan, by then, had disappeared. When Kanchana Mala broke open the door with the help of neighbours, there were a lot of blood stains and a foul smell was emanating from inside.

Police have now launched a manhunt for Gunasekharan, the main suspect. During the investigation, police found out that Gunasekharan visited his friend in Kaveripakkam, Ranipet, on Wednesday and had arranged for an empty piece of land, saying he was planning to set up a tileshop there. This led the cops to believe that Gunasekharan had taken the body parts in a drum and buried it on that land in Kaverippakam on Thursday and returned. He later ‘searched’ for his father along with sister. Police later said that property dispute could the motive behind the murder. They have decided to exhume Kumaresan’s body parts. Last week, a 65-year-old DMK man was killed after being lured by his girlfriend to her house in Royapuram. The accused and her associates murdered him to steal the money in possession with the deceased, police said.
