Kanniyakumari GH to get new buildings, equipment worth crores: Minister
Health Minister Ma Subramanian inspected the Kanniyakumari Government Hospital on Tuesday. The hospital will receive oxygen bed facility, medical equipment, new primary health centres. Block level health units are being constructed in the district.
Trauma Registry Software will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 5.26 lakh and new phases for Block Level Public Health Units will be constructed and strengthened at an estimated cost of Rs 2.59 crore. New buildings will be constructed for 8 primary health centres operating in rural areas of Kanniyakumari.
Health Minister said, “At least 113 sub health centres in rural areas will be converted into welfare centres at Rs 16.8 lakh. Kanniyakumari Medical College Hospitals will get LINAC equipment worth Rs 14 crore for cancer treatment.”
It will also have the TN Integrated Kidney Care Programme for the benefit of patients with chronic kidney failure. Dialysis machines and other modern equipment will be installed at Rs 13 lakh. The Kanniyakumari Government Medical College and Hospital Emergency Rehabilitation Centres will be expanded at Rs 54 lakh to treat people with mental illness.
Talking about the prevalence of monkeypox, the minister said that there are no cases in TN, and that it can be prevented by avoiding contact with animals, and isolating the infected person for 3 weeks.
“Passengers from African countries are advised to be screened at all airports in TN. The respective District Deputy Director of Health Services must be informed if anyone with symptoms comes to any government and private hospitals in the State,” the health minister said.
