Master check-up for Rs 1,000 now at Stanley GH

Stanley Medical College and Hospital has launched a comprehens­ive Master Health Check-up at Rs 1,000 at the hospital on Sunday.

Health Minister Ma Subramania­n inaugurate­d the scheme, which aims to provide access to all essential tests at an affordable cost.

“The screening will bed one for diabetes, hypertensi­on, hyper ch ole st role mia, thyroid disorders, renal and liver disorders via various blood tests with a fully automated analyser. Several hospitals including Rajiv Gandhi Government GH in Omandurar and Madurai Rajaji GH are providing it as well. It will help in early detection and treatment of these diseases,” the Health Minister said.

Dr P Balaji, dean, Stanley Medical, said, “There’s a steep increase in the prevalence of alcoholic and non-alcoholic liver diseases. Early detection by means of USG abdomen and counsellin­g regarding diet and lifestyle modificati­on can significan­tly reduce mortality and morbidity. The

State government has allocated Rs 15 lakh to procure a new USG machine.

A new digital x-ray machine has also been installed and was brought into use on Sunday.”

In the last 4 years, 763 new cases of breast cancer and 124 cases of cervical cancer were registered at the hospital. A majority of these were in advanced stages, leading to increased mortality.

For early detection of breast cancer, equipment for VIA VILI/Pap Smear at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore will be procured along with an echo card io graphic echo equipment.

The minister also inaugurate­d a renovated operation theatre complex at the New Surgical Block with 10 C-Arm supported operation tables at a cost of Rs 25 lakh. He also inaugurate­d the pain relief clinic that’d be used in the rehabilita­tion of patients with intractabl­e pain like cancer patients, neuropathy patients, spinal injury, arthritis etc.

A fully renovated and AC library at a cost of Rs 75 lakh was also inaugurate­d.
