BJP doing politics in name of religion, hits out Mano Thangaraj
Minister for Information Technology T Mano Thangaraj, who faced objections from cadre of BJP and Hindu Munnani during his participation in car festival of Murugan Temple’s Vaikasi Vishakam at Kumarakovil in Kanniyakumari district on Saturday, has accused the BJP of doing politics in the name of religion and people will never accept it.
Earlier, the BJP wanted scholarship benefits for the caste Hindu students, but even after the party came to power at the Centre, nothing could be done. Hence, people have started boycotting the BJP now as the party cheated the students. Only to divert attention from the fact that the party failed to make such benefits, the
BJP is politicising even in places of worship.
Further criticizing, the Minister said the BJP is only focused on making religious and caste minority based politics by ultimately deceiving the community. But, since the DMK-led government in Tamil Nadu, no such discrimination is allowed and people are treated on equal footing. People irrespective of economic status could approach the state government anytime and avail benefits from various welfare schemes.
The BJP could not tolerate these and with political intent incite religious feelings unnecessarily and people were aware of it. Further, he said religion and politics should not go hand in hand. The BJP takes religion on its hand and promoting bigotry. The Minister then said Kanniyakumari is a place of spiritual significance and people will not tolerate bigotry. The government in Tamil Nadu understands the feelings and needs of each and every person and delivers the goods, the Minister added.
