CM Stalin launches Kalloori Kanavu for govt school students

Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday inaugurate­d ‘Kalloori Kanavu’, a career guidance programme for government and aided schools.

“I (Stalin) may be the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu but ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ scheme was launched with the intention to make every one of you (students) the leader in each field. ‘Kalloori Kanavu’ is part of ‘Naan Mudhalvan’. Your intention should not just be to complete schools, join colleges, get degrees, join a job and get a handsome salary but should be aimed at improving society,” Stalin said during the launch at the Nehru Indoor Stadium.

Earlier, Stalin visited the stalls put up by renowned educationa­l institutio­ns and interacted with the staff. Later, he handed over the booklet of the ‘Kalloori Kanavu’ programme to students followed by which an MoU was signed between HCL and Tamil Nadu Skill Developmen­t Corporatio­n.

Stalin also listed out names of personalit­ies who had studied in government schools and became successful. “The man who sold newspapers and went on to become a great scientist and a leader - Abdul Kalam - also studied in a government school. Chandrayan fame Mayilasami Annadurai and ISRO Chairman Sivan, Chief Secretary V Irai Anbu and DGP Sylendra Babu also studied in government schools,” the CM said.

He reiterated that TN has the best educationa­l policy pan India and that ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ will further improve educationa­l standards. “We have set a target of achieving 2 million skilled youngsters by 2026 and by 2030 we will achieve the $1 trillion economy. As youngsters you must contribute to the developmen­t of the State,” the CM said.

CMC campus inaugurate­d:

Stalin also inaugurate­d the CMC campus in Ranipet later in the day. The campus has a 1,500 bed facility with a total of 35 surgical wards including six specialize­d surgical wards and a 250-bedded ICU.
