Now, a cloud service to link Aadhaar with EB connection
CHENNAI: Two weeks after starting the Aadhaar linking process, Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) has launched a cloud service to ease the linking process with a service connection number.
Tangedco’s CMD Rajesh Lakhani tweeted: “An online portal in cloud has been deployed for Aadhaar linking with Service connection number. The portal is adhar.tnebltd.org/Aadhaar/.
A senior Tangedco official said that the process has been simplified with verification through an OTP sent to the mobile number registered with the Aadhaar number.
Earlier, the Aadhaar number was linked to a consumer’s service connection number after a photocopy was uploaded and verified at the section office manually by the assistant engineer. “Now after you enter your Aadhaar number, an OTP will be sent to a registered mobile number with Aadhaar. After entering the OTP, the linking process would be complete and you’d get a confirmation SMS,” he explained.
Welcoming the OTP-based Aadhaar verification, RTI activist V Gopalakrishnan said: “I applied online to link the EB connection that’s registered in the name of my late father through the tenant option but was rejected twice. Today morning, through the OTP-based Aadhaar option, my application was accepted. I got a confirmation message in 15 minutes.”
Following the request from parents and relatives residing in NRI-owned properties, Tangedco has added an NRI-relatives column along with the owner, tenant and owner but service connection name not transferred. The NRIs who were not eligible for Aadhaar registration were unable to complete the linking process.
Parents and relatives living in their homes were demanding the Tangedco to provide a separate option to complete the Aadhaar linking process.
