Manapparai man kills self after losing Rs 4L
TIRUCHY/CHENNAI: The online rummy has claimed yet another life, this time in Tiruchy. A tea master, who lost Rs 4 lakh in online rummy, who attempted suicide on Sunday night, died during the early hours on Monday at Manapparai in Tiruchy.
Sources said that M Wilson (26) of Anjalkaranpatti village near Manapparai was working as a tea master in Coimbatore. Wilson was in the habit of playing online rummy and his father used to scold him. However, he ignored his father’s advices and warning and continued playing the game. His addiction to the rummy forced him to borrow money from friends and play the game.
Meanwhile, Wilson lost Rs 4 lakh in the game and due to this he was in a depressed mood.On Sunday, Wilson came to Manapparai and went to sleep after having dinner with his family. Late in the night, family members, who heard some strange noise in the room rushed there and were shocked to see Wilson hanging from the ceiling.
Soon they rescued him and rushed him to the Manapparai GH where he was died without responding to treatment during the early hours on Monday. Vaiyyampatti police registered a case and are investigating.
The deceased Wilson was survived by wife and two kids.
Approve re-enacted Bill, PMK urges Governor
Amidst this development, PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss urged Governor RN Ravi to immediately approve online gambling bill that was re-enacted by the state government.

He opined that the notions such as online gambling is based on skills and fundamental rights are against humanity. “These are spread by agents of online gambling firms. After the online gambling bill re-enacted, three suicides have occurred. As the government re-enacted the bill, there was no other option for the Governor other than approving it. Governor should do his duty laid down by the Constitution,” he added.
