Femtocell transceiver
Maxim Integrated Products has introduced the MAX2550/ 51/ 52/ 53 femtocell transceivers for WCDMA ( bands 1 to 6, and 8 to 10) and cdma2000 (band class 0, 1, and 10). These transceivers accelerate time-tomarket. A MAX-PHY digital interface eliminates the additional cost and space typically incurred with external data converters.
The transceivers come in a 7x7mm2 TQFN package and are rated over the –40°C to +85°C temperature range. These reduce the number of external components, facilitating more compact radio designs for modules and standalone femtocell applications. The SX1243 features a fractional-N phase-locked loop with 1.5KHz typical step, which minimises the bill-of-materials (BOM) cost. It covers frequency bands from 310 MHz to 450 MHz, 860 MHz to 870 MHz, as well as 902 MHz to 928 MHz, which makes it suited for worldwide operation. Semtech India, Mumbai Phone: (022) 23513759
Photocoupler
Renesas Electronics Corporation has introduced a photocoupler with a long external creepage distance of 14.5 mm. The photocoupler is suited for inverters in applications such as industrial equipment, and complies with safety standards covering the maximum com- mercial power supply voltage of 690V or solar power generation systems employing high voltages up to 1000 V. The insulation voltage is 7500 Vrms.
The photocoupler employs a lightreceiving IC, enabling it to achieve a low parasitic capacitance while keeping the circuit current below 3 mA and delivering short delay times of less than 150 ns. Renesas Electronics, Bengaluru Fax: (080) 67208777 Phone: 67208700 Web: http://sg.renesas.com
LED driver micro-modules
Texas Instruments has introduced two fully integrated LED driver micromodules that eliminate the external components and complex layout placement challenges typical of LED driver designs. The 450mA DC-DC LED driver modules are said to be the industry’s rst to incorporate all the required power and passive circuitry into a single IC package to deliver up to 23W of power to the LED.
The 14W TPS92550 and 23W TPS92551 constant-current buck LED driver modules virtually eliminate the need for power supply design resources and simplify procurement, with just one module replacing four or more components. Together with TI’s WEBENCH LED Architect, the lighting developer can quickly design a power management circuit with the minimum components needed to drive a string of 16 or more LEDs at up to 96 per cent power ef ciency. UV LED chip
SemiLEDs has launched UV LED chips that are capable of emitting radiation at a wavelength of 390-420 nm with 40 per cent external quantum ef ciencies at 350 mA (up to 500mW output power, typical 3.3V forward voltage). One of the chips in this series is the S50N-U, which is a high-power (3W/5W), high-brightness, 365nm UV LED in a sealed silicon package avail- able in a ready-to-use format. It makes use of SemiLEDs’ proprietary MvpLED technology. SemiLEDs UV LED products are available in wavelengths ranging from 365 nm to 420 nm, in chip sizes of 1.07×1.07 mm2 and 0.3×0.3 mm2.
