RF trans­mit­ter

Fem­to­cell transceiver

Maxim In­te­grated Prod­ucts has in­tro­duced the MAX2550/ 51/ 52/ 53 fem­to­cell trans­ceivers for WCDMA ( bands 1 to 6, and 8 to 10) and cdma2000 (band class 0, 1, and 10). Th­ese trans­ceivers ac­cel­er­ate time-tomar­ket. A MAX-PHY dig­i­tal in­ter­face elim­i­nates the ad­di­tional cost and space typ­i­cally in­curred with ex­ter­nal data con­vert­ers.

The trans­ceivers come in a 7x7mm2 TQFN pack­age and are rated over the –40°C to +85°C tem­per­a­ture range. Th­ese re­duce the num­ber of ex­ter­nal com­po­nents, fa­cil­i­tat­ing more com­pact ra­dio de­signs for mod­ules and stand­alone fem­to­cell ap­pli­ca­tions. The SX1243 fea­tures a frac­tional-N phase-locked loop with 1.5KHz typ­i­cal step, which min­imises the bill-of-ma­te­ri­als (BOM) cost. It cov­ers fre­quency bands from 310 MHz to 450 MHz, 860 MHz to 870 MHz, as well as 902 MHz to 928 MHz, which makes it suited for world­wide op­er­a­tion. Pho­to­cou­pler

Re­ne­sas Elec­tron­ics Cor­po­ra­tion has in­tro­duced a pho­to­cou­pler with a long ex­ter­nal creep­age dis­tance of 14.5 mm. The pho­to­cou­pler is suited for in­vert­ers in ap­pli­ca­tions such as in­dus­trial equip­ment, and com­plies with safety stan­dards cov­er­ing the max­i­mum com- mer­cial power sup­ply volt­age of 690V or so­lar power gen­er­a­tion sys­tems em­ploy­ing high volt­ages up to 1000 V. The in­su­la­tion volt­age is 7500 Vrms.

The pho­to­cou­pler em­ploys a lightre­ceiv­ing IC, en­abling it to achieve a low par­a­sitic ca­pac­i­tance while keep­ing the cir­cuit cur­rent be­low 3 mA and de­liv­er­ing short de­lay times of less than 150 ns. LED driver mi­cro-mod­ules

Texas In­stru­ments has in­tro­duced two fully in­te­grated LED driver mi­cro­mod­ules that elim­i­nate the ex­ter­nal com­po­nents and com­plex lay­out place­ment chal­lenges typ­i­cal of LED driver de­signs. The 450mA DC-DC LED driver mod­ules are said to be the in­dus­try’s rst to in­cor­po­rate all the re­quired power and pas­sive cir­cuitry into a sin­gle IC pack­age to de­liver up to 23W of power to the LED.

The 14W TPS92550 and 23W TPS92551 con­stant-cur­rent buck LED driver mod­ules vir­tu­ally elim­i­nate the need for power sup­ply de­sign re­sources and sim­plify pro­cure­ment, with just one mod­ule re­plac­ing four or more com­po­nents. Together with TI’s WEBENCH LED Ar­chi­tect, the light­ing de­vel­oper can quickly de­sign a power man­age­ment cir­cuit with the min­i­mum com­po­nents needed to drive a string of 16 or more LEDs at up to 96 per cent power ef ciency. UV LED chip

SemiLEDs has launched UV LED chips that are ca­pa­ble of emit­ting ra­di­a­tion at a wave­length of 390-420 nm with 40 per cent ex­ter­nal quan­tum ef cien­cies at 350 mA (up to 500mW output power, typ­i­cal 3.3V for­ward volt­age). One of the chips in this se­ries is the S50N-U, which is a high-power (3W/5W), high-bright­ness, 365nm UV LED in a sealed sil­i­con pack­age avail- able in a ready-to-use for­mat. It makes use of SemiLEDs’ pro­pri­etary MvpLED tech­nol­ogy. SemiLEDs UV LED prod­ucts are avail­able in wave­lengths rang­ing from 365 nm to 420 nm, in chip sizes of 1.07×1.07 mm2 and 0.3×0.3 mm2.
