Audi R8 V10 Plus

Living with a supercar

- Arun Singh Dagar

THAT JAVA GREEN COLOUR and all the pops and crackles you hear from that naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 engine, I could not resist the urge to own one and finally in 2014, I got myself the Audi R8 V10 Plus. It has been a little over three years since I bought the car and I have already clocked 16,000km in it. Talk about being an easy-to-use supercar! I drive the R8 regularly, especially when there are public holidays, because the roads are less crowded making it is easier to drive around without traffic getting in my way. I am also a member of the CannonBall Club, a brilliant platform to meet and interact with people having similar interests. The club also organises a number of drives and events which I actively take part in. The best part are the track days organised by the club at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) in Delhi. On these track days, you can really push your supercar to the limit and

TI love driving the R8 flat-out on the track. I absolutely love the way the R8 handles and drives. It is one of the most practical and easiest supercars to drive, especially in India, given our country’s road conditions. The best part about the R8 is its heart, 549bhp at 8000rpm, step on the pedal and the R8 lunges forward, and the company claims it can clock the 0-100kmph sprint in 3.5 seconds.

After living with the R8 for around three years, I have no complaints, but there is one thing that I really wish the R8 would have – a panoramic sunroof. Apart from that, the only other thing that I dislike about the car has nothing to do with the engine or the styling, it is the key. It is far too simple for my taste. Apart from this, I am thrilled with my R8 as it is and I do not wish to make modifications whatsoever. The engine, styling, power and sound are perfect in stock form.

If I had to recommend a supercar to buy (other than the R8), I would suggest the Lamborghini Huracan Spyder. The overall experience of owning and driving an Audi R8 has been wonderful. The people working at the Audi Gurgaon dealership are extremely helpful and very polite, especially Mikey from the Gurgaon dealership, who helped me through the process of buying the R8.

I spend around `1 lakh for servicing my vehicle, but I do not have any complaints or issues whatsoever and the service centre is top notch. ⌧

“Audi R8 is one of the best sportscars out there. The engine, gearbox and suspension on this car

make it very easy to drive and the performance is superb. The design allows a good view outside for the

driver, which makes it easier to reverse and park as well. I won’t say it’s the best track car out there as the brakes fade rather too quickly so you need to be careful after a few laps. Overall the ownership experience of the car in India is

very good.”
