Mahindra Thar CRDe

The Thar is back at the evo India HQ

- Ryan Lee (@ryanlee814)

MMAHINDRA HAD borrowed the green Thar for the Royal Escape in Rajasthan a little while ago. Well, I think it got sunburnt in the desert because the Thar that came back is rather red. Jokes aside, a Thar is a Thar, so I’m not complaining.

It’s been two months since I joined evo India and from my doorstep to work and back is a 45km round trip. I love using the Thar for my commute because it is very easy to drive in traffic. It is easy to manoeuver through rush hour traffic because I don’t think anyone wants to mess with the beast. Also, the steering on the new Thar is lighter compared to its predecessor.

On another note, I’m patting myself on the back for being a bit clever. You see, Mahindra sent us the Thar fitted with Maxxis Bighorn 764 mud-tyres. From experience I know they wear out fast on the road, especially when it is so hot. So, I’ve sourced a set of JK Ranger all-terrain tyres for road use. They ride quieter and brake better and are generally better suited than the mud-tyres. I’m saving the Bighorns for the rains and the off-road excursions I’ve planned for then. ⌧
