It’s all green and clean with electric scooters and BS6-compliant vehicles

BAJAJ CHETAK

After months of waiting, Bajaj has finally launched the Chetak in not one but two variants—Urbane and Premium. The scooter is powered by an IP67-compliant electric motor producing 3.8kW of continuous power that peaks at 4.08kW. It gets a 3kWh Li-ion battery which can be charged with a standard 5A outlet. It boasts of a 85km range in Eco mode and 95km in Sports mode. Bajaj will be giving home charging stations complimentary with the Chetak. The scooter will be on sale only in Pune and Bengaluru, as of now, and can only be purchased from the dedicated website.

ROYAL ENFIELD HIMALAYAN

The BS6-compliant Himalayan finally gets switchable ABS and a hazard lamp switch. It continues to draw power from the singlecylinder, 411cc motor but now makes 24.3bhp and 32Nm. RE claims to have improved the braking performance of the ADV and have added a new side stand. However, all the updates have resulted in the Himalayan putting on 5kg.

APRILIA SR 160

Piaggio has joined the BS6 bandwagon, and well ahead of the deadline! The SR series now gets a 160cc, fuel-injected, single cylinder engine developing 10.84bhp and 11.6Nm, up from 9.92bhp and 10.9Nm on the SR 150. The price has gone up by almost `26,000. Piaggio is offering accessories upto `4,200 with the SR 160 range.

HONDA ACTIVA 6G

The sixth-gen Activa gets a 109.51cc engine churning 7.68bhp and 8.79Nm. And, it now shares its underpinnings with the Activa 125 BS6, making it 72mm longer and giving it a 22mm longer wheelbase.

ROYAL ENFIELD CLASSIC 350

The Classic is now BS6 compliant! The updated bike now features dual-channel ABS, fuel injection and new paint schemes. Though it uses the same 346cc, singlecylinder engine, it now makes 19.1bhp instead of 19.8bhp. The torque, however, remains the same. Also, Royal Enfield is now offering a three-year warranty and three years of roadside assistance as standard.
