The gods must be crazy

Mercedes has dialled it up to eleven and given us the track-only AMG GT Track Series

-

TO CELEBRATE THEIR 55TH anniversary, the folks from Affalterbach have come out with a more manic version of the already manic Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series. The AMG GT Track Series is a limited-edition track-only car that has now become the fastest and most powerful AMG ever made.

Putting all of its motorsport knowledge into the Track Series and throwing the legislation book out of the window, AMG has given it all. The Track Series borrows bits from AMG’s GT race cars and it is over 240kg lighter than its road going counterpart. Power is up to 723bhp and 850Nm too. The Track Series gets an upgraded aero kit with features such as large bonnet scoops, carbon wings on top of the front axle, blades on the front and rear fenders and a double diffuser at the rear. It rides on 18-inch wheels, the same as the standard road car, but with stickier track-specific slick tyres. The Track Series derives its mechanical structures from the AMG GT3 and GT4 cars. On the inside, it gets a roll cage, a carbonfibre driver safety cell with a five-point safety harness and a 6-speed sequential gearbox.

What’s bespoke to the AMG GT Track Series, is the racy silver paint scheme combined with elements in red, inspired by MercedesAMG’s F1 cars. It has also been bestowed with a host of AMG logos across the front apron. The Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series will only be available for purchase to a lucky 55 people. With the car they buy, Mercedes-AMG is also offering all the owners an exclusive membership for track days and Clubsport events to allow them to drive their cars to the limits of their potential. ⌧
