Welcome to 2012, and welcome to Bazaar’sr first issue of the

This double issue tells you all you need to know to stay fabulous in the New Year. After all that hectic partying, dressing up, and general over-indulging, it’s time to detox. Start the year on a fresher, easier note. In ‘Dress Detox’, we choose the best of the easy-breezy cruise pieces that are now in stores. As someone who loves to dress up, this is the one time of the year I want to be easy, with loose clothes—sans jewellery and makeup. No matter what I do, I always overdo it at the end of the year—and crave complete minimalism at the beginning of the next. This is also a good time to invest in the new names of the season, and this issue tells you all the names you need to know. Our ‘Ones to Watch’ story tells you who the new stars of the year are—in film, fashion, and style. And in ‘The Rush Hour’, we have selected a handful of designers from all over the world whom we believe are the future of fashion.

On the cover is Nargis Fakhri, shot in the stunning Maldives—a girl who first made us stand up and notice her in Rockstar. You can be sure she will be rocking some more this year. She’s wearing a piece from Manish Arora’s maiden collection for Paco Rabbane. For both Manish and Nargis, it is their very first time on our cover.

The issue features lots of firsts—we also present to you ‘ Bazaar at Work’. This new special section in the magazine tells you everything you need to know about how to look and feel good in the workplace. And since we spend most of our time in the office, it’s important to wear clothes you love at the office, yet at the same time maintaining that professional look.

Weight loss is always top of mind for me in January. Every year I go on some fad diet or the other, and I lose the weight with ease, but somehow in February, I end up being larger than I was in the most indulgent eating week of the year—the Christmas holiday week. So while these fad diets are fab to lose weight for a week or two, the minute you are off them, you are bigger than before. The real trick is to find a real lifestyle diet, one that works for you. The author of Confessions of a Serial Dieter, Kalli Purie, tells you how to keep that weight off for good. This candid journey through some amazing weight loss includes the Champagne Diet—yes, you can drink and lose weight—as long as you keep your dancing shoes on!

So start off the year on a bright note, and remember, when it comes to fashion or food—fads are not the way to go. It’s about finding a style that works for you, a style that you can carry off with élan! Happy 2012!
