Travel NOTEBOOK

After celebrating the relaunch of the travel and lifestyle members-only club ASMALLWORLD, its CEO stayed on with friends for a fabulous time in Morocco

-

Take the time to find hidden sanctuaries. It’s well worth it. Morocco can be the most relaxing place you’ve ever visited.

Haute destination We stopped at the tiny white-walled port village of Essaouira, an über-stylish weekend beach escape from

Marrakech, known for its boho atmosphere and laid-back attitude. Essaouira was put on the artistic map by Jimi Hendrix and Cat Stevens, who used to play guitars around bonfires there

in the ‘60s. I stayed at the Villa Maroc, a charming white-andelectric-blue riad, with musician Harper Simon (Paul Simon’s son), who was there to record a song with musical legend

Marianne Faithfull.

Favourite stays After our weekend of festivities, I stayed on with Dianna Agron, Kathleen Kennedy, Serena Merriman, and others at the Beldi Country Club in Marrakech. The Beldi is an eco-friendly sanctuary amidst olive groves and acres of magical rose, citrus and hibiscus gardens, shady hidden courtyards, and airy rooms filled with handmade Berber-style rugs and pottery for sale.

Your favourite activity here Listening to Marianne Faithfull’s amazing stories about Mick Jagger and Jimi Hendrix.

What I loved about Morocco Amidst the bustle and off the dusty roads, Morocco is filled with pockets of subtle and quiet beauty.
