Pash’s father dies in US

CHANDIGARH: Sohan Singh Sandhu, father of Naxalite Punjabi poet Pash, died on Wednesday night in California, US. He was 85. Sandhu moved to the US more than three decades ago after retiring from the army as a major. A few years ago, Sandhu had compiled a book comprising write-ups about Pash. Pash, whose real name was Avtar Singh Sandhu, was killed at the age of 38 by Khalistani terrorists on March 23, 1988, in his native village, Talwandi Salem, Jalandhar. In his late teens, he got influenced by the Naxalite movement in Punjab and became a celebrated poet.
