Pash’s fa­ther dies in US

CHANDI­GARH: So­han Singh Sandhu, fa­ther of Nax­alite Pun­jabi poet Pash, died on Wed­nes­day night in Cal­i­for­nia, US. He was 85. Sandhu moved to the US more than three decades ago af­ter re­tir­ing from the army as a ma­jor. A few years ago, Sandhu had com­piled a book com­pris­ing write-ups about Pash. Pash, whose real name was Av­tar Singh Sandhu, was killed at the age of 38 by Khal­is­tani ter­ror­ists on March 23, 1988, in his na­tive vil­lage, Talwandi Salem, Ja­land­har. In his late teens, he got in­flu­enced by the Nax­alite move­ment in Pun­jab and be­came a cel­e­brated poet.
