SIRSA: The Haryana government has invited jailed former chief minister Om Parkash Chautala and his son Ajay Chautala to attend an event to mark the state’s golden jubilee in November.

Stating this here on Friday, leader of Opposition and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) MLA Abhay Chautala said on the basis of the government invite, they would file an appeal for bail of the two leaders in the Punjab and Haryana high court.

The government has convened a special assembly session on November 3 and a meeting of former MLAs and MPs on November 4 to seek their suggestions regarding the ‘Swarna Jayanti’ celebrations.

Abhay said, “If the court gives permission to his father and brother, they will definitely love to attend the event on November 4.”

Both the Chautalas, former MLAs, are currently serving a ten-year sentence at the Tihar jail in New Delhi after their conviction in the JBT recruitment scam.

Talking to HT, Jagdish Chopra, political adviser to Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, confirmed that Chautalas have been invited for the golden jubilee programme as the government had sent invites to all “without any discrimination.”
