Anirban Lahiri lies second in Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR: Playing at a venue, where a victory 18 months ago was the catalyst in lifting him onto the world stage, Anirban Lahiri put himself in contention for his maiden PGA Tour title, when he added a second successive 66 to move within two shots of the lead at the halfway stage of CIMB Classic, on Friday. Lahiri is now Tiedsecond after 36 holes.

Defending champion Justin Thomas, helped by a closing double bogey by the till-then bogeyfree Lahiri, pulled two shots clear of the Indian. Thomas has rounds of 64-66.

The other two Indians Gaganjeet Bhullar (70) was twounder for 36 holes and Tied-54th, while SSP Chawrasia (74) was two-over in Tied-73rd.

KUZNETSOVA ONE WIN AWAY FROM WTA FINALS

MOSCOW: Svetlana Kuznetsova advanced into the final of the Kremlin Cup on Friday with a hard-fought win over Ukrainian Elina Svitolina to give her hopes of making the WTA Finals.

Russian won 6-1, 6-7 (2/7), 6-4. If Kuznetsova, 31, retains her title on Saturday she will take the eighth and final place at the season-ending WTA Finals in Singapore next week.
