Promote Vedic studies, values to make country superpower: Shah
CHANDIGARH: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah on Saturday exhorted youths to preserve and promote Vedic studies and values, without which, he said, the country could not become a superpower.
Speaking at the 104th annual function of the Gurukul Kurukshetra in Kurukshetra, Shah said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the country was fast progressing towards a prosperous and strong nation by preserving its ancient spiritual heritage. He expressed gratitude to the Gurukul management for giving him the opportunity to visit the land where Lord Krishna had delivered the celestial message of Gita.
He said it was also the land where Swami Shradhanand had started education, which now had taken the shape of the Gurukul, and where the young generation was getting value-based quality education. Lauding the role of Himachal Pradesh governor, he said Acharya Devvrat had rendered selfless service to this Gurukul for over 30 years.
Acharya Devvrat in his address said that the Arya Samaj was the first socio-religious institution in the country to work for the promotion of education. He said that DAV management committee and the Gurukul today ran a large number of educational institutions.
Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar also appreciated the Gurukul for providing quality education based on moral values to the children. Khattar also greeted Shah on latter’s birthday.
DAV management committee, New Delhi, president Punam Suri said the management planned to start a new school for girls in Rajaund, Kaithal, and a woman’s university in Yamunanagar, where all the staff from the vicechancellor to class-4 employees would be female. Haryana BJP party affairs in-charge Anil Jain also spoke on the occasion.
