Police have booked a property dealer and four other men for the shootout on Thursday at Farrukhnagar, 25 kms from the city, in which two men were killed. The third victim is fighting for his life at Medanta hospital in Gurgaon.

Two persons, identified as Sandeep and Ram Avtar, were shot dead while Sunil alias Sinu was critically injured around 1pm when they were sitting inside property dealer Ved Prakash Saini’s office waiting to be paid their pending dues. The three are from Bhadsa village in Jhajjar district and were engaged in property dealing.

According to the police, an FIR has been registered against Saini, Jagbir, his son Tinu, and two others for their involvement in the attack. The five were booked after Sunil gave his statement to the police at the hospital.

Ashok Bakshi, DCP, South, said the incident was the result of a property deal gone wrong. “The trio had sold a plot for ₹48 lakh and were paid ₹12 lakh. Saini called them saying he would give the remaining amount on Thursday, but they were instead shot in his office,” he said. He added that the perpetrators have been identified and would be nabbed soon.

A case has been registered for murder, under the Arms Act, and under other sections of the IPC. The forensic and finger print team of the Gurgaon police was pressed into service to collect evidence. Two mobile phones and spent bullet shells were recovered from the spot.

Initial investigation by the police has revealed that a meeting was to be held at Saini’s office on Thursday to resolve the dispute pertaining to payment of around ₹36 lakh that the victims were pressing Saini to pay.
