Govt makes solar systems mandatory for all private schools
CHANDIGARH:: The Haryana government has made it mandatory for all private schools in the state to instal solar systems so as to make themselves self-sufficient in the field of electricity.
Announcing this, an official spokesman said that a special grant at the rate of Rs 20,000 per kilowatt is being given to these schools for installing solar power plants.
The schools have been asked to make their plans and apply for the special grant.
Since the amount of special grant is limited, it will be given on the ‘first come first served’ basis.
The spokesman said that during the summer vacations in the schools in the months of June and July, the electricity to be generated from these solar power plants would be added to the grid, the record of which would be maintained through net metering.
“The schools would be required to pay bill only for the electricity consumed in excess of the electricity generated by their own solar power systems,” he said.
