The editorial, ‘A band of hooligans’ (HT, Feb 23) does not help cool down tempers as it asks if BJP student wing ABVP is a “bunch of thugs” while advocating the cause of other leaders Shehla Rashid and Umar Khalid, who has been charged with sedition. The violence at Delhi University is condemnable. It’s time education reforms are implemented and a balance is brought between freedom of expression and academic rights of students. Political activities of parties through their student wings that work on caste, religion and agenda must be either discouraged or abolished.
