Dalit home set on fire, two women charred to death

DALTONGANJ: Two dalit women were burnt to death and one girl grieviousl­y injured when attackers set their house on fire to settle a land dispute . Eleven family members escaped the inferno.

The incident occurred at Bineka village under Tarhasi police station in Palamu district on Wednesday night. The village is located 50 km from district headquarte­rs.

The police have booked eleven people including six named accused in this connection.

The deceased were identified as Bigani Kunwar (65) and Imali Devi (35), the mother and wife of Sanjay Paswan. Paswan’s daughter Rupa Kumar also sustained several burn injuries.

“There were 14 members inside the houses. Amit and I somehow managed to come out by cutting thatched roof and rescued nine family members. We, however, could not save my mother and wife,” Sanjay said.
