SAD-turned-AAP leader’s son held

MANSA: The Patiala police arrested two men of Sardulgarh in Mansa district, Sher Singh and Sukhchain Singh, on Tuesday for their alleged involvemen­t in the November 27 Nabha jailbreak. Sher Singh, who was arrested from Sardulgarh, owns a gymnasium in the town and his father, Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi, is a former councillor and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader who had joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead o the assembly polls.

“The Patiala police informed us about his arrest early morning on Tuesday,” said Mansa senior superinten­dent of police (SSP) Viveksheel Soni. The other suspect, Sukhchain, was arrested from Sirsa in Haryana while he was attending a court hearing.

From Sardulgarh, another suspect suspect Kala Singh (19) of Ullak village has already been arrested in the case.

Six criminals had fled the Nabha Maximum Security Jail; three have been rearrested.

MAUR BLASTS: MANSA SHOPKEEPER QUIZZED

The Bathinda police’s crime investigat­ion agency (CIA) questioned a man named Narendra Singh here on Tuesday morning in the January 31 Maur blasts case. Narendra runs a garment showroom in Mansa and is a resident of Maur. He was allegedly taken away by four unidentifi­ed, car-borne men from near his showroom. His family informed the district police on Tuesday evening after he didn’t reach back home.

Bathinda SSP Swapan Sharma said, “Narendra was called for questionin­g and has been sent back.”
