Financier’s murder: 4 more held, 2 Italian pistols seized
SANGRUR : A day after gangster Davinder Singh, alias Babli Randhawa, surrendered in a local court, the police on Wednesday arrested four more accused in financier Hardev Singh Happy’s murder case at Longowal on February 16.
“Five persons were booked for financier’s murder and all are behind bars now. During investigation, we came to know that one Dhanwant Singh of Kotra Amru village was also with the accused and his name has been incorporated in the FIR. We have launched a hunt to nab him,” said senior superintendent of police Inderbir Singh.
“The police have recovered two unlicensed Italy-made 7.65mm pistols, four empty magazines, 16 live cartridge and four empty cartridges from the accused,” he said.
Those arrested have been identified as Varinder Singh, alias Mottu, Sraaz Khan and Amandeep Singh, all residents of Longowal, and Gurpreet Singh from Lohakhera village.
“Three accused were nabbed from Changal village road Mastuana and Gurpreet was arrested from Lohakhera on Wednesday,” the SSP added.
“The accused were produced in a court on Thursday and have been sent to police remand till March 8,” said SP (investigation) Sewa Singh Malhi.
Hardev Singh Happy, 25, was shot dead at Longowal by five gangsters led by gangster Babli Randhawa. After committing the crime, Randhawa posted four videos on his Facebook page, taking responsibility for the crime and celebrating the murder by joining chorus of a song, “Maare hik vich fire Jat ne (The Jat has fired in the chest)”. He is also seen flashing a gun in the video.
Police had registered a case under Sections 302 (murder), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon) and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code and 25/54/50 of the Arms Act.
