BAHADURGARH: The Delhi Police on Thursday did not allow tractor-trolleys to enter the capital, sending Jat protesters coming all the way from Rohtak, Jind and adjoining districts back without taking part in the ‘big demonstration’.

Wanting to take part in the protest at Jantar Mantar, thousands of Jat protesters stuffed inside buses, tractors, jeeps, trucks, cars and other vehicles rushed to Delhi, dancing on rooftops while raising pro-quota slogans. Two lines of the toll-plaza near Sampla village were left open for protesters.

However, while people on commercial vehicles were given entry to Delhi, those coming on tractor-trolleys were stopped at Tikri Border by Delhi Police.

Angry protesters indulged in arguments with the police, while some even drove their tractors over barricades to get entry. However, the police said all of them were eventually stopped from entering the capital.

“There were some who tried to get entry forcefully. But, they were sent back from Nangloi,” Mundka station house officer (SHO)RamavtarKalonia said. ONE PROTESTER DIES IN ROAD MISHAP One Jat protester was killed while he was returning after being refused entry in Delhi. The police said Vijay of Rohtak’s Sunariya village was standing in the trolley while coming back home from Delhi border. The driver of the tractor suddenly applied brake after cattle strayed on the road, due to which Vijay fell down from the trolley.

He was crushed under the wheel of the same trolley after falling down. The police said he was rushed to local trauma centre, where he was pronounced dead. ANOTHER DIES OF CARDIAC ARREST A 65-year-old man died of cardiac arrest at the sit-in of Ikkas village in Jind district on Thursday. The deceased has been identifeid as Dhup Singh, a resident of Kharakramji village of Jind district. Capt Randhir Singh Chahal, leader of Jat organisation holding sit-in demanded ₹10 lakh compensation for next of kin and a government job to one family member. ]

Chahal told media that Dhup Singh was regular at the sit-in from beginning.
