CHANDIGARH Disgruntled MLAs of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday denied having met or being in touch with two senior leaders of the Congress in Haryana.

During the Zero Hour of the state assembly, Gurgaon MLA Umesh Aggarwal and some other party MLAs, who have been in the news for publicly expressing their ire against neglect by their own government, said they were not in touch with Congress MLAs Kuldeep Sharma and Karan Singh Dalal. The MLAs were reacting to reports that they were in touch with the two leaders.

While Sharma denied having made any statement in this regard, Dalal said that some MLAs were trying to talk to them. “They want to know the solution to their problems,” he said.

The ruling party members reacted angrily to the claim. BJP legislator Mool Chand Sharma responded by questioning the Congress MLAs’ ability to give advice to them. “Inka toh chunaav mein soopda saaf kar diya, yeh kya samadhan batayenge (They were demolished in the elections, what solution can they give),” he answered back.

Upset over ‘step-motherly treatment’ being given by their government, the group has been holding meetings and speaking out against the working of the bureaucracy and preferential behaviour towards select party MLAs. Chief minister ML Khattar had last week met the miffed MLAs at his residence and tried to pacify them, but his effort does not seem to have worked.
