KARNAL: Union steel minister Birender Singh on Thursday said that there are no differences within the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders, but some MLAs might be unhappy with the delay in developmental works in their constituencies. He, however, accused officials of not supporting MLAs in the development work.

“This is the weakness of our system, not only in Haryana but in the entire country. But results cannot be achieved without quick disposal,” he said.

He added that if development works will not be completed within five years, the MLAs concerned will not get credit for the work.

“Non-cooperation of officials in expediting development seems to be the reason behind the angst of some MLAs,” said Birender, while talking to the media here on Thursday.

“I was associated with the Congress for about 42 years, but BJP is a cadre-based party; and discipline is a must for any political party,” Birender said.

Earlier the minister inaugurated the Digi-Dhan Mela and appealed to people to adopt digital transactions.

He hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision of demonetisation and said that the step will help in bringing transparency into the system, curbing corruption and putting a check on terrorism.

He said the decision of cashless transactions will put a check on black money.

He said the government is making efforts to promote cashless transaction and people should support this step.
