HISAR: The Delhi-Sirsa Express train had to wait at the Hansi station in the district on Sunday night after a drunk man allegedly squatted on the track near Ramayan railway crossing, around 500 m from the spot where Jats are holding a dharna.

The gate man posted at the railway crossing informed the police about the matter and removed the person from the track.

Meanwhile, All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) Hisar district president Krishan Kirmara, said, “The man belongs to Ramayan village and is not a member of AIJASS.” “Those who stay back at the dharna spot during the night are directed by us not to create any scene and they are all responsible people.”

Hansi additional superintendent of police (ASP) Rajesh Kumar said, “There was a man under the influence of alcohol who started shouting near the railway crossing.”

He added, “But the gate man himself removed him from there. However, no case has been registered in this connection.”

On Tuesday, the protesters celebrated the Vijay Diwas at the dharna spot in Ramayan and distributed sweets among the protesters.

While talking to Hindustan Times, Krishan Kirmara said, “We are happy that the state government has accepted our demands and today we distributed ‘jelabis’ to all protesters.”

“A large number of women and men gathered at the dharna spot and danced to the tunes of dhol nagara,” he added.

All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti state spokesperson Rambhagat Malik said, “We are in touch with our national leaders. We have decided to lift our dharna at Sarsod village on March 23.”

He added, “The dharna in Ramayan will continue till the state-level meeting with our national leaders on March 26.”
