ROHTAK: In a shameful incident, a teacher was caught on the camera helping students cheat during the Class-10 Haryana Board examination.

The footage was recorded on Tuesday during the Science paper at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Jhajjar.

The video shows the teacher, who was deployed to supervise the exam, reading out answers from an answer key to a few students.

When other students try to cheat from her answer key, she starts scolding them.

She hides the answer key once she notices a camera pointed at her from outside the window, while another student quickly shuts the window.

Jhajjar district education officer (DEO) Satbir Siwach said taking cognisance of the video, they have relieved the teacher from duty and started an inquiry.

“We will get the inquiry reports soon, and after that we will see what needs to be done,” said Siwach.

The DEO, however, refuted claims about a paper leak. Though the Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH) has been taking several measures, incidents of copying and using unfair means continue to go unabated in most schools.

A board spokesperson said they have so far registered 2,898 cases of copying in the ongoing Class 10 and 12 board examinations.

The district administrations have also imposed Section 144 of the CrPC barring a collection of more than four people around exam centres.
