The Punjab and Haryana high court has fined the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) with ₹25 lakh after it found irregularities in recruitments for the post of assistant professors of physical education made in 2012.

The judgment was pronounced by the high court bench of justice PB Bajanthri in an open court on Wednesday.

However, the detailed order is awaited.

The petitioner’s lawyer, Sunil Kumar Nehra, said that the petition has been allowed.

Appointments of some appointees set aside, a fine of ₹25 lakh has been imposed on Haryana Public Service Commission as it found irregularities in the conduct of recruitments.

The order came on the petition of one, Kuldeep Nara, who had alleged that marks were given in excess of as cited in the advertisement, to certain candidates.

It was alleged that one of the candidate, who even admitted that she was not NET qualified, was given marks for the same.

The selection process started in 2009 and recruitments were made in 2012.

It was alleged before the court that the petitioner was not awarded marks for experience as per the Right to Information (RTI) information obtained by him.

Haryana Public Service Commission had taken a decision that the candidates will be called thrice to the number of advertised posts for interview.

However, six times more candidates were called in this category, the petitioner had alleged.

He has sought quashing of the appointments of five candidates out of eight.
