SC summons chief secys of 10 states over drought
Chief secretaries of 10 states were summoned on Wednesday by the Supreme Court for failing to implement the latter’s order on drought relief. A Bench headed by Justice MB Lokur asked them to appear on April 26 to explain why its order wasn’t carried out. It expressed disappointment at the manner in which the governments have not made much progress to set up food bodies and grievance redressal officers. The secretaries who were summoned are of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Gujarat, Telangana, Bihar and Jharkhand.
