HT executive editor awarded for writing on strategic affairs
NEW DELHI Executive editor of Hindustan Times Shishir Gupta was on Wednesday honoured with the 9th K Subrahmanyam Award 2015 for his outstanding contribution to writing on strategic affairs.
The award was presented to Gupta by Prof Charan Wadhwa, senior most council member of the Institute of Defence Studies and Analyses, in the absence of Manohar Parrikar who recently resigned as defence minister.
With this, Gupta becomes the first journalist to get this annual award for his pioneering work on home grown jihadist group Indian Mujahideen and IndiaChina relations. The award carries a citation and award amount of ₹1 lakh. Gupta, who writes on national politics and strategic affairs, is also the author of Indian Mujahideen: The Enemy Within and Himalayan Face-off: Chinese Assertion and Indian Riposte.
The K Subrahmanyam Award is conferred on an Indian scholar, journalist or analyst who has made an outstanding contribution in the area of strategic and security studies. Preference is given to those younger than 50.
