22yearold arrested for murder
NEW DELHI: Three days after a 22-year-old woman was found murdered at her home in north Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, the Delhi Police on Wednesday claimed to have solved the case with the arrest of her tenant’s brother.
The accused, identified as Dabloo, was arrested from h Jalalabad near Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh. The police recovered the woman’s mobile phone, her silver ring and chain, which Dabloo had removed from the crime scene to make it look like a murder.
Police said he allegedly strangled the woman when she resisted his attempt to sexually assault her and tried to raise an alarm when he forced himself on her on Sunday afternoon. Her 10-month-old child was found crying nearby, when her husband and neighbours discovered her body.
An investigating officer said they probed Dabloo’s involvement when they learnt that he was missing since the crime. Also, the last location of his cell phone was found near the crime scene at the time of the murder.
The police suspected the woman’s husband. He was questioned but the circumstantial evidence confirmed that he was out for work when the crime took place.
