20 Jat protesters injured as tractor-trailer overturns

HISAR : Around 20 Jat protesters, including women, were injured when a tractor-trailer in which they were travelling to the dharna spot at Ramayan village in Hisar turned turtle near Sekhpura village on Thursday morning.

The victims were rushed to the civil hospital, Hisar, for treatment. Two women, identified as Murti Devi and Kitabo Devi, were referred to Agroha Medical College, with serious injuries.

Ved Singh, one of the injured, told mediaperso­ns that they were going to Ramayan when their tractor-trailer rammed with a tree and it turned turtle near Sekhpura village.

He said the victims belonged to Rakhigarhi and Rakhishahp­ur villages.

DHARNA LIFTED FROM SAROD

Meanwhile, All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) president Yashpal Malik, who visited Ramayan and Sarsod villages, decided to end the ongoing dharna at Sarsod.

Talking to mediaperso­ns, Malik said, “After assurance from chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, we have decided to end our Sarsod dharna. On Wednesday, we had lifted our dharna from Bhagal village of Kaithal district.”

However, he said, “We will continue our symbolic protest in Panipat, Jind, Kurukshetr­a, Sirsa, Rohtak, Dadri, Karnal, Hisar (Ramayan), Fatehabad, Kaithal, Sonipat, Bhiwani, Jhajjar and Gurugram till March 26. If the Haryana CM backtracks from his promise to fulfil our demands, we will start our protest again and it will take only 24 hours for us to march to Delhi.” He said, “We have requested everyone to stop coming to the dharna spots and only members of AIJASS will be staying at the dharnas.”
