Khattar pays surprise visit to Gurugram, says metropolitan development authority soon
CHANDIGARH: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday said that a bill would be introduced in the next session of the Vidhan Sabha for setting up of the metropolitan development authority (MDA) for Gurugram to improve connectivity in the city.
Interacting with mediapersons in Gurugram after making an unannounced and unscheduled inspection of the progress on different development works, Khattar said his government had already approved in principle setting up of the MDA for Gurugram.
He said Metro connectivity in Gurugram would be extended to provide better public transport facility to the people.
He pulled up officials for the poor condition of roads and sanitation, and asked them to ensure sanitation and cleanliness in Gurugram city.
Khattar said work for enhancing the capacity of Badshahpur drain is also apace.
This year, arrangements would be made so that the Hero Honda chowk on NH-8 does not get flooded again.
Khattar also inspected the progress on the improvement works on three major junctions on the national highway-8, namely IFFCO chowk, Signature Tower and Rajiv Chowk, and directed the officials to expedite work.
On seeing the encroachments and illegal parking in the green belts along the roads, he directed the officials to get the green belts freed of all encroachments.
Announces ₹1 lakh financial help for a physically challenged
The unscheduled and unplanned inspection by the chief minister of Gurugram proved to be a boon for the physically challenged Rajesh of Farukhnagar who was seen standing at the Sector-5 chowk. Khattar called him and inquired about him. He announced a financial help of ₹1 lakh for Rajesh and asked him to contact the DC office on Monday for receiving the cheque.
